As per the Judgment dated 31 August 2018 by which the Supreme Court of Pakistan made the law admission test (LAT) a mandatory entry test before taking admission into Law from 2018 onward. In this judgment, HEC was directed to take LAT biannually. But due to the increasing number of aspirants now HEC holds LAT thrice or four times a year. Recently in 2023, HEC conducted its last LAT on 12 November 2023.
As far as the dates for the next LAT test are concerned, it is expected to be conducted in the month of January. There is no fixed date or schedule available for the Law Admission Test. It’s totally up to HEC when it conducts LAT. Ideally, it conducts LAT Test prior to the opening of admission at the Universities or Law Colleges. Keeping in view the history and the pattern in which HEC conducts its LAT it is expected that it will open the admissions for LAT Test in the coming January of 2024. How to Apply for Next LAT Test
One of the biggest confusions that exists is how can I apply for the LAT Test. By following the steps below you can easily apply for LAT on your mobile.

Create your account
Firstly, you need to create an account on the website of etc.hec.gov.pk. ETC stands for the Education Testing Council, which is a subordinate institution of HEC responsible for conducting all tests. After creating your account on the Education Testing Council website, you must enter your personal and educational information, including your name, marks, age, and gender. Additionally, you should upload your picture.

Apply for LAT
After entering your personal information and educational information you then have to apply for the law admission test from the announcement section. It will submit your application and show you the option for fee submission. Before the submission of your fee and after submitting your application you will receive an email from HEC telling you that your application has been successfully submitted.

How to pay the fee for the Law Admission Test.
Recently HEC updated the methodology to pay the fee for the Law Admission Test. Now students can pay that fee by using the One Bill Payment method integrated into Easypaisa, Jazzcash, or any Bank that supports the One Bill Payment option. All you need to do is copy the consumer number available on the website of the Education Testing Council (ETC) after submitting your online application for LAT. Paste that consumer number in the One Bill Payment method, it will automatically fetch your name and the test fee amount. After paying your fee, your fee submission status at the ETC website will change from “Pending” to “Paid” and congratulations you have successfully applied for the Law Admission Test.
Roll Number Slip and Result
After submitting your application for the Law Admission Test the very next question that will come up in your mind is when will you receive your Roll number slip? Ideally, HEC issues the Roll Number slip 4 days before the test day. The slip will contain all the details that a candidate is looking for like the center Name, Test day instructions, and reporting time. If we talk about the results, HEC issues the KEY for MCQs results within 24 to 48 Hours and then declares the final results within 25 days via email address and online portal. That LAT result is valid for two years from the date of its declaration.
